Robert W. Walter, J.D.

joined The SEC Institute in April 2010. Bob has led continuing education courses for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants since 2000, where he has focused primarily on SEC reporting and updates, IFRS, financial fraud and business ethics, and business law courses. Bob has written five eight-hour continuing education courses for AICPA, including the Annual Business Law Update and Real World Business Ethics.

Bob writes the quarterly SEC and PCAOB Updates for AICPA and has been a frequent speaker on SEC and PCAOB matters at AICPA webcasts and national conferences, as well as state society annual meetings and securities conferences. Bob has also written five books on finance, capital market transactions and ethics, including Completing a Small Business IPO (Aspen Publishers), Financing Your Small Business (Barron's Business Library), and The CPA's Guide to Small Business Financing (AICPA). Bob has practiced securities law for more than 25 years and is of counsel to Richardson & Patel, LLP, Los Angeles, California.

Bob formerly served as a member of the Standing Advisory Group to the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board and is a member of the National Speakers Association, the Author's Guild, the American Society of Journalists and Authors, American Mensa, Beta Gamma Sigma, and the International Federation for Professional Speakers. Bob is admitted to practice law in Colorado and the District of Columbia, and before the U.S. Supreme Court and the Federal and Tenth Circuits of the U.S. Court of Appeals.
